Lithuanian National Technology Platform for Networked and Electronic Media
Introduction
The Lithuanian National Technology Platform for Networked and Electronic Media (NTP NEM) platform is a counterpart of the European Networked and Electronic Media platform. NTP NEM was formed to unite national science and research institutions with enterprises involved in Networked and Electronic Media.
On the 23rd of August 2006, ten Lithuanian business and science institutions established the Lithuanian Networked and Electronic Media platform and agreed to pursue a common goal – integrate Lithuanian communications and electronic technologies market into European Union innovation and economic space, while increasing Lithuania’s competitiveness and attractiveness. In less than a year from foundation of the NTP NEM, it attracted fifteen new members and it now consists of 25 Lithuanian organizations.

Activities
On the 22nd of November 2006, NTP NEM Board elections took place. 14 board members (5 from science institutions and 9 business representatives) were elected. Vygandas Jūras, Director of Strategic Development and Research Department in TEO, LT AB, was elected Chairman of the Board of NTP NEM.
By the 1st of May 2007, NTP NEM had prepared the feasibility study which analyzed the current status and developments of the Lithuanian Networked Electronic Media sector, with high-level recommendations for the upcoming decade. Another document prepared – NTP NEM Strategy – outlined key strategic directions and initiatives of Lithuanian NEM members for the period until 2016.
While preparing strategic documents, multiple brain-storming sessions took place, during which partners outlined 39 potential common projects in the Electronic Content domain.
